The effect of fire is estimated by the FED (Fractional Effective Dose) parameter, with a detailed description of damage in terms of life safety, which is the focus of ARTU. The evacuation is simulated taking into account the environmental conditions. The innovative aspect of ARTU is that it uses a probabilistic framework to evaluate a large number of fire scenarios, and a deterministic approach to describe the interaction between fire products and people involved in the accident. Since the Directive of the European Parliament, risk assessment has become an integral part of tunnel design to achieve the safety goals.

Pathfinder’s floor extraction tool allows to easily use the imported geometry to define the occupant walking space for the evacuation model and allows to import a blueprint in GIF, JPG, or PNG format as a background to help you draw your model directly over the image. It provides support for the import of AutoCAD format DXF and DWG files.
